Success is relative not an ultimate destination.

Success may vary to different people differently. Getting a decent job in a poor family from a village can be a great success to that family. But for a MBA pass out student from a famous university it could be a failure

According to the former dean of  London business school Mr Andrew likierman ‘success is a relative rather than an absolute term. ‘Success needs to be measured against the stated objectives and the achievements of relevant peers’.

He also suggests that Jeff Bezos (Amazon) and Jack Ma (Alibaba) have been successful in business because, at the time they started, there were many similar companies aspiring to dominate the industry. These two among them achieved. It’s the fact.

What should be the actual metrics of success?

Many people among us tend to look at success as having a lot of money. If you are rich enough or somehow accumulated a huge amount of money you may be considered as successful to many people in your society. But it’s absolutely wrong.

Money cannot be considered as a definition of success. Suppose you have set a goal for doing something meaningful in your life. Somehow you have failed at the last moment. Now does that mean you haven’t got any success?

Yes you have got success. Let’s say if you have done sixty percent of your job honestly and if it does create a value for you or for some people then you have achieved success for sure. Yes I mean it.

Your satisfaction and value does matter

The actual definition of success is to understand the real meaning of success. If you try hard towards your desired goal honestly and if it satisfies you on the way whether you have achieved it or not, you can rest assured that you have succeeded.

Final thoughts

So you can see that you are the only one who have to determine your own definition of success.

You have to draw the line as to where it creates a value for you and satisfies your mind. Whether you achieved a hundred percent or not, accumulated a huge amount of money or not doesn’t matter.

Just set your goal, try hard, maintain honesty and keep moving forward.
